Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre FAQ

Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre FAQ

Is this just an exercise group of moms that get together to walk?

We love this question - the answer is NO! These classes are no walk in the park. In just one hour you will get a complete head to toe workout that will have you feeling energized and looking fit. Classes are designed for ALL different fitness levels and are taught by certified instructors who are also moms. During our stations we use resistance bands, open fields for drills or obstacles, benches or steps, and anything in the environment to give you a great workout. Don't be surprised if you find yourself using words like "burpee" or "plank" in every day conversation before long!

Can I join Stroller Strides or Stroller Barre if I am pregnant?

YES, YES, YES! WE encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise through their pregnancy as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Instructors are trained in both pre and post natal fitness and follow the ACOG guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses an issue as you progress through your pregnancy.

Exercise during pregnancy helps improve or increase:

* Cardiovascular fitness

* Muscular strength/endurance

* Energy levels

* Higher fatigue threshold

* Posture and biomechanics

* Circulation

* Self-esteem, sense of well-being

* Recovery time

What do I need to bring to class?

Other than you, your baby and your stroller....

We recommend athletic shoes, a towel or mat for our ground exercises and plenty of water.

For outdoor classes, please bring a hat and/or sunblock. Don't forget to pack baby some snacks and/or small toys for the ride, too!

Do I need a jogging stroller?

No! While we are BOB jogger fanatics, just about any stroller will do so long as it's not prone to tipping. We do not recommend umbrella strollers since they are not very maneuverable. Our mommies have mastered classes with snap-n-gos and other travel systems!

How long are the Stroller Strides workouts?

The workouts are one hour unless otherwise noted. The class is usually set up with a 5 minute warm up followed by a 45 minute full body workout with the stroller that includes power walking or running, cardio blasts and body toning stations. The last ten minutes is for abs and stretching.

When can I start taking classes?

Always obtain your physician's approval before beginning any exercise routine. We recommend waiting until your baby is at least 6 weeks of age and you have clearance from your physician to begin Stroller Strides classes. Children are welcome up to any age as long as they still enjoy a ride in the stroller.

What if my baby gets fussy during class?

Our first priority during Stroller Strides classes is the happiness of your baby. Tend to your baby first. We stop every few minutes for a new station, so you can always catch up with us if you get behind, let the instructor know if you have to stop and she will let you know where the group is going next! Our instructors will do their very best to make the class enjoyable for both you and your baby. We sing to the babies and we keep the strollers moving to have a change of scenery for the little ones.

What if the weather is bad?

We will only cancel outdoor classes in extreme weather conditions. We try to follow Ann Arbor Public School (Washtenaw Country) closings , but sometimes we still have even if AAPS are closed. Please check your email and our Facebook page for weather related schedule changes.

Loving what I've read, how do I get started?

Click on "ENROLL." Select the location where you would like to attend. Click on the date that you would like to attend and click "enroll." You will be redirected to a registration page.

If you have not enrolled prior to class or signed the class waiver electronically, you will be able to do so on location or before class.

What if I am enrolled and didn't make it to class?

Class attendance is recorded by the instructor at each class, and even if you enrolled, unless you are present you will not be counted. This means that if you are a class pass holder, you will not be charged for that class.

Body Back FAQ

Do I need to be in great shape to participate in class?

No. We have all fitness levels in our classes, but we will warn you; these classes are hard! Our goal is to deliver a workout that will challenge any fitness level. You might not be able to do every single thing your first class, but you will be able to by the end of your 8-week session!

What is the workout like?

Body Back® has 3 formats, Rounds, Traveling and Circuit. Each is a high intensity interval training (HIIT) class with a combination of cardio, strength and core. The HIIT method is proven to yield the best results and highest after burn of calories.

What do I need to bring to class?

A yoga mat or towel to do abs and cool down, plenty of water, and a towel for your sweat. You WILL sweat!

Can I do Body Back if I am pregnant?

No. This workout is not intended for prenatal exercise and we do not recommend following the meal plans during pregnancy. If you become pregnant during the course of your Body Back session, please notify your instructor. We offer Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre as appropriate prenatal exercise programs.

Can I bring kids to Body Back?

No. This class is for women 18 and older without children present.

Do I need to Pre-Register or can I just show up?

For Body Back Sessions, you must pre-register to ensure your spot in the class. Body Back sessions sell out quickly, so you want to hold your spot by registering early.

For Body Back Boost, you will need to pre-register so your instructor knows to expect you and can contact you if there are any changes to the class. We will require a minimum number of clients to be enrolled in order to offer that class. If you can not make it to class, you will need to cancel at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise you will be charged.

What is the difference between Body Back Sessions and Body Back Boost?

Body Back sessions are closed 8-week sessions with a max of 12 people. The sessions include 2 weekly workouts, meal plans, food journals, DVDs, online support and before and after assessments.

Body Back boost is just the workout, no commitment, drop-in basis, with a max of 25 people in class.

What makes Body Back and Fit4Mom different from the Gym?

Body Back is so much more than just a workout! We are a community of Moms where you will find support, encouragement, camaraderie and lifelong friendships. Through education, we help you to create a healthier home and more active lifestyle for your family. We believe you should be empowered and encouraged to push past your perceived limits and find inner strength while building physical strength. We strive to build you up and put you first to create your BEST YOU.
